This year marks the 4th year that the CSRA has come together to provide community events in support of National Recovery Month, sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).  For 23 years, Recovery Month has celebrated the effectiveness of prevention, treatment, and recovery services and the reality of recovery for all individuals experiencing behavioral health issues.
The Augusta Coalition for Addition Recovery Awareness (ACARA), is honored to have Chuck Wade, of the “Drugs Don’t Work” program as the guest speaker on Thursday September 6, 2012.  We hope you all can attend and promote this event!  We also look forward to moving our 5k Run/Walk and Disc Golf Tournament to the scenic Greenway on the grounds of the North Augusta Parks and Recreation Center.
This year’s Recovery Month theme, “Join the Voices for Recovery: It’s Worth It,” emphasizes that while the road to recovery may be difficult, the benefits of preventing and overcoming mental and/or substance use disorders are significant and valuable to individuals, families, and communities.
Your commitment to Recovery Month is essential in raising awareness about the importance of prevention, treatment, and recovery, right here in your community!  Through your support of these community events, making a difference in the CSRA is possible!
